For a long time, I held this belief that letters solved everything… After all, Elizabeth began to change her mind about Darcy and Bingley asked Jane on a date, all because of a letter. I don’t have enough fingers to count all the people that I’ve written to these past three years. I spent Sophomore year writing to Derek, telling him what he already knew. I wrote to Josh, to Andrew, and again to Derek. I wrote to Cameron, the boy who holds my heart, when Cederick asked me to prom. Then I lost Cameron. Then he came back.
Except, it turns out letters don’t solve everything. Sometimes, you’ll write a letter to a boy to apologize for being too bold, to tell him you understand he’s got a broken heart and you’re not there to disturb his healing process. And he’ll call you and say he needs to talk, led you to the middle of the quad and tell you he doesn’t want you with your classmates just yards away.
No more letters for me.
